About

AEGEE-Europe-300x262

Neither is there a national level nor administration in AEGEE. The aim of such structure is to emphasize the idea of ?common Europe? and international cooperation. AEGEE works then on two levels: local and European one.

On the local level there are lots of sections, called ?antennae?, which are located in all major university cities all over the Europe ? i.e. AEGEE-Poznań. Some main structures function on the European level (including European Board), which determine the course of action for local branches.

AEGEE is an abbreviation for a French name Association des Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l?Europe (European Students? Forum).

AEGEE is the biggest international students? organisation in Europe. It gathers students from different universities and all faculties and disciplines.

AEGEE is supported by European Commission. It has a consultative status in the Council of Europe and in the United Nations in the field of education and syllabuses. AEGEE also cooperates with UNESCO and OBWE. The honorary patrons of our organisation are, inter alia,  Árpád Göncz and Rita Süssmund.

AEGEE means:

  • almost 13 000 students,
  • more than 200 cities,
  • almost 40 countries in Europe,
  • but first of all: PEOPLE!

There are many differences between us: age, university, experience, opinions and views… But there are more things that we have in common: passion, curiosity about the world, willingness to study in an extraordinary and memorable way. AEGEE people are idealists, who want to do something more than just obtain a degree. Our trips, trainings and parties are accompanied by the atmosphere of cooperation and positive energy.

The main goals of AEGEE:

  • striving for common, borderless Europe,
  • working for the open and tolerant society,
  • raising youth?s awareness of important social problems (human rights, democracy, ecology),
  • increasing the scale of international cooperation, mobility and education across Europe.
