At the beginning the slang of AEGEEans may seem strange to you? That?s why we created this mini-dictionary. It includes the most popular phrases, commonly used by us. Check it out, so that such sentence ?I?ve just come back from FRES, and the next week I?m going to NetMet in German antenna? won?t surprise you any more!

AEGEE (Association des Etats Généraux des Etudiants de l?Europe) ? European Students? Forum.

AEGEE-Spirit ? it is something, that can?t be expressed with any words. In simple terms AEGEE-Spirit is the unusual aura, atmosphere or spirit that accompanies our members at every AEGEE event and makes us powerful, enthusiastic, crazy and lasts for the next few weeks/months (basically: to the next event)

AEGEE?an ? member of AEGEE.

Agora ? the biggest and the most important statutory assembly of AEGEE, during which the European authorities are elected, the changes in AEGEE-Europe status are made and the future of our organisation is discussed. It takes place twice a year, in spring and in autumn.

Antenna ? the local branch of AEGEE (ex. AEGEE-Poznań, AEGEE-Barcelona, AEGEE-Moskva).

Booklet ? an information brochure designed for participants of the project. It contains news about the following event.

Comité Directeur (CD) ? The European Board of AEGEE, which comprises maximum 9 members, from at least 4 different countries. The Board consists of: President, Secretary General, Financial Director, Vice President, External Relations Director, Projects and Communications Director, Network Director, Human Resources Director. CD is an executive body, that represents the whole AEGEE in the European Union and the Council of Europe. It is supported and controlled by Audit Commission, Mediation Commission, Juridical Commission and Network Commission.

Contact ? generally is one person (but there can be also several) who is interested in foundation an AEGEE antenna in own city. They have access to all the necessary information and contact with AEGEE-Europe.

Contact-Antenna (CA) ? a form halfway between a contact and an antenna. In order to become a Contact-Antenna the Contact must sign a contract with AEGEE-Europe (Convention d?Adhesion) and register itself in its country (i.e. in Poland as association). If within one year after foundation of CA it will hold at least one European event, the Contact-Antenna is elevated to the status of Antenna.

EBM (European Boards? Meeting) ? the second most important statutory meeting of AEGEE. It takes place about 6 weeks before the Spring Agora. The number of participants is smaller (about 300 people). At EBM there are analyzed all the proposals and then put to the vote at the Agora. It is also a kind of AEGEEan think-tank, which means the place, where the future ideas for projects are formed.

European School ? thematic training camps, where you (accompanied by the participants from various countries) can acquire complete knowledge about a particular field. The most popular ES are: ES 1 ? preparing to work in local Boards and ES 2 ? where you will get information about activity in AEGEE on European level. Also PR, FR, HR and IT have their own ES-es (respectively PRES, FRES, HRES and ITES.

European Night (EN) ? one of the traditional, most popular and unforgettable parties in AEGEE, organised at international events, like Agora or Summer University. Every participant has a ?duty? to bring from their country a bottle of typical ?alcohol-free? drink. Presentation of various treats (ex. cakes, sweets) is also welcome. During that evening we all gather together and each country presents its specialties, which will be then shared with others. In addition, eveybody has to tell us an anecdote, legend, to present a traditional dance, to sing, or to do anything else that is typical of their country. European Night is an opportunity to learn about other cultures and … to integrate.

Event ? everything that is organised and is something bigger, than the evening meeting in the Office. Each antenna at least once a year organises an European event ? it can be an exchange, a Study Visit, a European School, a Summer University and so on. You can attend such events all the time in various places in Europe.

Freshies (pol. ?Świeżynki?) ? new members who are still learning what is AEGEE and how to work there.

Fund Raising (FR) - one of the basic working groups (together with PR and HR WG), active in almost every antenna. It takes care of raising funds: donations, financial and material sponsorship, budgets and financial plans and generally stuff that may be necessary during most events.

Human Resources (HR) ? a working group which takes care of people. Here you can learn everything you need to know about trainings, motivation, interpersonal communication, team work or body language. HR WG also organises AEGEE parties (like Tram or Bus Party, theme parties and social gatherings) and social programme at the events (how to arrange it in an effective and impressive way).

Juridical Commission (JC) ? consists of 3 people. Two of them are elected on Agora, and one is selected by the CD. The tasks of JC include legal control of AEGEE, Verifying the conformity of the Statutes of each AEGEE local with the model defined by AEGEE-Europe, as well as the application of these Statutes, monitoring the conduct of voting during Agora and validation the statutes of antennae.

Local Training Course (LTC) ? project management training, designed to acquaint new members with ideas and activity of AEGEE and to prepare both new and older members to work in AEGEE. It takes place regularly, twice a year.

Network ? AEGEEan net, to which are assigned the antennae from the same region. The whole organisation is divided into 10 networks.

Network Commission (NetCom) ? Network Commission comprises 10 NetComs (experienced AEGEE members), and SubComs (their helpers). They support, motivate and coordinate activities in their region. They are responsible for the preparation of NetMets. Their main task is taking care of antennae and mediating ?European level? and ?Local level?. In other words, they are the bridge between an antenna and AEGEE-Europe.

Network Meeting (NetMet, NWM) ? these gatherings of networks take place twice a year (every spring and autumn) in each region of AEGEE. They involve mainly the antennae from the particular region, but the meeting is open to every AEGEE branch ? there are no borders for cooperation, discussions and sharing the experience in our organisation ? neither national nor regional. Network Meeting is also a place, where AEGEE members gain knowledge about European Bodies.

Oldies ? the senior members of AEGEE, who finish or have just finished their studies. They have the largest experience and they always offer willingly and happily advice and assistance or the possibility to contact in person. This term also encompasses former AEGEEans.

Public Relations (PR) ? a working group designed to create the image of AEGEE. It is responsible for contacts with external antennae, updating the website, soliciting patronage, promoting our organisation among students and in media, on regional, international, or even European area. One of their tasks is also so-called internal PR, which means catering for good contact and the atmosphere inside the antenna, as well as motivating members to be active and participate in events.

Summer University (SU) ? popular holiday camps. The cheapest and the best holidays, the whole Europe to choose from, the lowest fees, SOOOO GREAT people and SOOOO MUCH fun. Two unforgettable weeks, spent in the most active and relaxing way: on thematic, language camps or pure touristic ones. AEGEE-Poznań organises its own SU every year and it?s always a great success.

Team ? the group which organises a particular project.

Workshop ? a practical lecture combined with exercises. Essential at most of the projects.
